Are you a Poet but don't know it

Cats are such beautiful, elegant and enchanting creatures, which is why artists have drawn them, storytellers have written about them and poets spoke verses about them over the centuries.

We would love to here any poems that you have written. You can submit your poems using the e-mail at the bottom of this page .

Almost Drowning...turned to Paradise!

It was a crisp fall day as cassie...(an 11 year old girl) climbed out of her soft warm bed. She took a big yawn and a long stretch.

"CASS!" Her mom yelled from downstairs. "DO YOU WANT TO GO TO THE MARKET OR NOT?" Today was the day Cassie and her mom had planned to go to the Animal market. It was only open once every 2 weeks, so they didn't want to miss out.

"COMING MOM!" Cassie yelled as she pulled on her new black jeans and her new orange T-shirt with a kitten on the front of it. As Cassie ran to the bathroom, she brushed her teeth as fast as she could and ran downstairs to meet her mom standing at the door waiting for her. Cassie quickly grabbed her purse.

"Ready to go hunn?" Natalie said....(Natalie was Cassie's orphan mother....her real mom had abandoned her after she had her at the age of 17)

"Yep, I sure am!" Cassie said with a smile. "So are we gonna buy an animal mom? Or are we just looking?"

"I don't know yet Cass....It depends on the animal...what were you thinking?"

"A Cat?" Cassie said...not expecting a pleasant answer.

"A CAT?" Natalie yelled. "You know those cats rip your furnisher to death Cass!"

"I know mom.....but we will declaw it!....."

"Who will declaw it?" Natalie said. "Who has all the money?....ME" Natalie said giggling. "I'll think about it. They hopped into the car and off they went....

"Are we there yet?" Cassie said.

"Not yet."........

"How bout now?" Cassie said smiling as she looked in the mirror under the visor of the car. Natalie looked at Cassie and gave an angry face. As they pulled in to the parking lot...Cassie jumped out of the car to the sound of a crying cat...or kitten...but it sounded like more than one. "Do you hear that mom?" Cassie said...looking around, trying to follow the noise. Cassie slowlywalked toward the sound which led her to this kiddie pool in the back of this person's yard. Cassie, curiously looked inside the kiddie pool to see 3 helplessly drowning kittens. "MOM!!!!" Cassie yelled with all her might. Her mom came running as fast as she could..thinking Cassie was hurt.

"CASSIE...WHATS WRONG?"

"MOM....LOOK HERE!" Cassie grabbed the 4 kittens from the pool and cuddled them in her arms.

"No Cassie....1 cat is bad enough...but 4?"

"Oh please mom? We can train them, and help them....just to think...if i were here any later, they could have drowned! Can I please keep them? They carelessly fell into this kiddie pool!"

"UGH!" Natalie said...."If you PROMISE to take care of them all by YOURSELF?"

"Oh yes mom! I promise! Cross my heart!

* * * * * * *

1 year had passed and then kittens had grown alot! Cassie had just had her 12th birthday. She had named the cats....eany, meany, minea and moe. And now...Cassie and her mom are glad they have the cats....she has trained them to use the kitty door to go outside and NOT to cratch Natalie's furnisher to shreads! And they have never been happier! And same with the cats! "I bet I know what the cats are thinking RIGHT NOW!" Said Cassie.

"What?" Said Natalie.

"No Dogs...No water...free food everyday?...This must either be heaven or paradise!"
