Are you a Poet but don't know it

Cats are such beautiful, elegant and enchanting creatures, which is why artists have drawn them, storytellers have written about them and poets spoke verses about them over the centuries.

We would love to here any poems that you have written. You can submit your poems using the e-mail at the bottom of this page .

THE PERFECT COMPANION

Passers by turned their heads aside at the sight of her

Poor damaged creature that she was at that time

Never having much - yet I stopped to make her mine

With kindness and compassion that I could give

She struggled - at the remembrances of casual cruelty endured

But I would not be dissuaded by her cringing reluctance

And finally gained her trembling confidence that kindness

Did still existed in her cold world

She is never demanding of material things - nor argumentative - or negative

There has never been a time that at the sight of me

She hasn’t hurried to show her happiness and joy

Her gift of love to me - rescued - poor outcast that she was

Her unspoken and lasting devotion is her reward to me

Her beauty sometimes takes my breath away -

Her sleek and noble grace of movement and bearing

The green slanted eyes flashing as she lays peacefully with me

In comfortable silence and mutual adoration - we pass the days that way

Her greatfullness is reciprocated in everyway - everyday

It is an unassailable fact that she loves me truly

Old man that I now am - she still needs and wants me

I am this beautiful creatures object of worship

The day I saw her those years ago - was my lucky day

I am thankful for each and every day with her

Yes I am a very fortunate man indeed

For she will with a certainty always be here with me

You might say - she is only a refugee that I took in

That she is not anything special at all

Being only a stray cat I took home one day

But I disagree - because she is indeed
