Ticks
Ticks are more commonly found in rural areas were there is moor lands or dense vegetation. Hedgehogs are the main carriers of ticks in towns and cities.
Ticks are blue-grey in color and resemble a small bean. The tick attaches onto a cat’s skin and feeds of its blood. It can grow up to half an inch and is sometimes mistaken for skin cysts or tumors.
Never be tempted to pull out the tick from your cat as this may result in the head being left behind, which could led to an abscess. The most popular way to treat ticks is to use a good flea/tick spray, such as Frontline. An alternative method is to dab the tick with surgical spirits or coat with Vaseline. This should cause them to suffocate and fall off.
