Name: Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosa)– Medium Cat

Size: 16 - 23 kg

Distribution: The clouded Leopard is found in Southeast Asia and habitats in tropical rainforest, scrubs and swamps. It is an endangered species due to hunting of its coat and deforestation. Clouded leopards are protected in parks and reserves under game laws.

Description: The Clouded Leopard is considered to be the largest cat in the medium-size group of wildcats. The most distinct physical feature of the clouded leopard is its pattern coat. The fur is pale yellow to brown with large shaded blotches that are edged in black or brown. The Clouded Leopard is well known for its ability to climb trees and hang from branches using its hind legs. It is a solitary animal, except during breeding. Hunting either day or night, it preys on deer, birds, wild boar and small mammals.

Lifespan: 11 years
