Origin / History: The Burmese cat is named after the country of origin, Burma. The Burmese breed today can be traced to a female called Wong Mau, who was brought into America in 1930.

Characteristics: A shorthair breed that has a smooth glossy coat. The Burmese are medium sized and well developed.

Personality: Can be described as an outgoing breed that like companionship of both human and other animals. This breed is related to the Siamese breed.
