Name: Birman (longhair Non-Persian Type)

Origin / History: Birmans are siad to have originated from Burma where priests considered them to be sacred. In the early 1920's a breeding program for the Birman was undertaken in France.

Characteristics: Can be described as a medium-sized cat, with a long silky coat and very distinctive white feet.

Personality: The Birman tend to be clever, gentle, active and good with children along with other animals.
